Intern Program

NCHA Wild Herb Weekend Interns

The North Carolina Herb Association (NCHA) is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the production, marketing, and the use of herbs and herb related products through education and research. NCHA is looking for interns for Wild Herb Weekend 2012. WHW is NCHA’s annual conference bringing together professional herbalists and herbal enthusiasts from all across North Carolina. The event is held every July in Valle Crucis, NC, located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.  Being enrolled in an herbal studies program or a horticultural science program is not required, but would be beneficial. Interns will receive fully paid tuition for the conference. This is a $250.00 value.

WHW interns will be expected to:

  • Help with conference registration/sign-in
  • Assist vendors with sales display set-up & take-down
  • Operate the student raffle which helps to pay for the internship program
  • Support speakers with their presentations
  • Assist Board members as needed
  • Help with conference clean-up

Interns will have the opportunity to attend some of the classes during the conference, and will have lunch with the Conference key-note speaker. There will also be lots of time for networking, making new friends, and having fun!

If you are interested, please submit a 500-word essay describing your interest in herbs, and any experience you might have growing and using herbs (culinary or medicinal). If you are interested in a career as an herbalist or horticulturist, please tell us how the internship will benefit your education.

Application Deadline: May 31 2013

Scholarships will be awarded by June 15, 2013. Recipients will be notified via e-mail.
